Jakarta, 22 March 2026 – Reinforcing its position as an environmentally responsible hotel, Hotel Borobudur Jakarta, in collaboration with Artha Graha Peduli (AGP), proudly participated in Earth Hour 2026 under the theme “Give Space for the Earth.” Going beyond the standard 60-minute global movement, the hotel consistently extends its initiative to 90 minutes to maximize energy savings and promote more efficient use of resources.

As part of this initiative, lighting in several public areas was turned off for 90 minutes, from 8:30 PM to 10:00 PM, and replaced with candlelight across various locations. This created a warm and reflective atmosphere for guests to enjoy meaningful moments together in a calmer setting. More than a symbolic gesture, this initiative reflects a tangible effort to reduce energy consumption while raising awareness of the importance of resource efficiency.

During the 90-minute Earth Hour observance on Saturday, 28 March 2026, Hotel Borobudur Jakarta recorded significant energy savings across its operational systems. The HVAC system contributed the most to the reduction, while improvements in mechanical and electrical systems accounted for up to 25% of the total energy savings. These results demonstrate that a longer duration can deliver a more impactful outcome in energy efficiency efforts.
